While we all have come to appreciate how the blogging world has given us great tips and advice on how to dress, the latest trends, fun cooking recipes etc....I have come to realize that I have seen little in the way of how to help solve life's everyday little blunders and upsets. This got me thinking..why not start a series on Real Girls + Real Problems = Let's Find a Real Solution! Every other week I will be sharing a tip or trick on how to solve everyday "girl" problems that so many of us frequnetly run into (how to remove a stain, how to be better organized, how to fix a piece of jewelry if it breaks etc.) and how we can help find simple and easy solutions!
So of course after I started to think about writing content, I immediately ran into one of the most common girl problems around...the dreaded STAIN!
Remember this outfit post from last week?
Real Problem: While changing into my next outfit my favorite MAC Pink Nouveau lipstick went from being my friend to my enemy in one fell swoop! My beloved color decided to leave its temporary residence on my lips to take up a more permanent residence on my favorite JCREW (DRY CLEAN ONLY) blouse!
The next question was....how can I keep the stain from setting on non-washable fabric until I can get it to the dry cleaners?
Real Solution: All you will need is some scotch tape and baby powder!
1) Place a piece of tape over the stain, smooth it down lightly, then jerk it off (you might have to repeat this step a few times). Do not be afraid to rip the tape off as the lipstick is adhering to the sticky adhesive surface and is helping to separate the lipstick from the delicate fabric.
2) If there is any small stain left after using the scotch tape then lightly sprinkle some baby powder on the stain and gently tap with your fingertip. Shake the powder off and the stain should fly off as well.
Problem Solved: After using this lipstick stain removal trick, I was able to get enough of the smudge off so that the dry cleaners were able to ultimately restore my blouse to its pre-stain glory!
I hope you enjoyed the first section of Real Girl...Real Problems!
